Diabetes
Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the US. Diabetes can and will affect the quality of your vision due to risk of cataracts, glaucoma and retinopathy which occurs in the back of your eye. It is highly recommended by the American Optometric Association that patients diagnosed with Diabetes get an annual dilated eye exam. Early diabetic retinopathy changes are silent until they are advanced, but early detection and treatment can truly save your vision. A report will be sent to your endocrinologist to communicate your progress.
