Dr. Hetal Rana, OD

Dr. Hetal Rana joined Eye Associates in August 2017, with 20 years of experience, taking over the practice from Drs. Fine, Miller and Mund as the lead optometrist and owner. She received her doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in 2001 and completed a residency program in ocular disease in Kittery, Maine.

At Eye Associates, Dr. Rana provides primary eye care for adults and children, contact lens fittings, specialty keratoconus CL fittings, consultations and post-op care for Lasik and co-management for cataract surgeries. She also has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing patients with cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, red eye and other ocular diseases. Dr. Rana also manages patients with systemic diseases with sight threatening ocular manifestations, like diabetes and high blood pressure.

Dr. Rana is, one of the few doctors in Columbia, providing cutting edge technology with CRT lenses to help slow down myopia.  Corneal Reshaping Therapy leading the way to help our children slow down the progression of myopia.

Dr. Rana is also certified in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with irregular corneas from conditions like keratoconus, ectasia and post graft cornea.  She is, one of the few doctors, actively fitting scleral contact lenses in the Howard county area.

Dr. Rana moved to Maryland with her husband in 2007 and has since settled in Howard County with her two young children. This opportunity affords her a chance to serve the community she resides in and to carry on the legacy of providing exceptional eye care.

Drs. Fine, Mund and Miller have taken great pain in making sure that Eye Associates and it's longtime patients are under the care of an experienced and caring optometrist.  They wanted to pass on their legacy to someone that they trusted and knew Dr. Rana would fit the role.  Eye Associates will continue to care for its longtime and new patients at the highest standard of care.
